I used to grind my teeth, I had broken teeth. He put the orthotic in, I felt more comfortable. I don’t wake up with a headache or sore jaw.. I get compliments on my smile.. Frey is good, a level of service that goes beyond what most people are accustomed to in dentistry these days.

Lisa’s Treatment For TMJ Disorder And More Natural-Looking Porcelain Veneers
Lisa was not satisfied with the veneers she received from her first dentist, and sought Dr. Frey’s help to achieve a more natural smile. When she revealed that she also suffered from TMJ disorder, Dr. Frey advised they correct her bite before replacing the veneers. Lisa wore a custom-built orthotic for six weeks to realign her jaw, and described it “one of the easiest processes she’s ever been through.”
Recommend this dentist to those who have TMj. Learned alot and helped me understand all im Going through and what causes TMj. Great people and I was taken care of. They know there stuff and will definitely get you fixed up and feeling better.
I came in today to prep my teeth for my overbite. The procedure was so seamless with the relaxing music, in fact I didn't even realize how fast the time went by. All of the procedures should be like that!
I went to see Dr. Frey in the beginning of 2016 because I was experiencing severe facial pain on my left side which radiated into my jaw. I had seen another specialist in 2015 who had stated I had TMJ and gave me a removable orthotic to wear. That treatment did not work and after seeing Dr. Frey on the TV talking about his treatment for TMJ I knew I had to call him. I met with him and he was very friendly and answered a lot of questions I had about my pain. After mentioning a few of my symptoms he asked if I had ever had an MRI done because some of my symptoms sounded more neurological in nature. I stated I had not. He wrote a nice letter requesting I have a MRI done on my head/neck/jaw ect and sent this letter to a local imaging center as well as gave me a copy. The imaging center could not move forward without a referral and consent from my PCP. Following my consultation with Dr. Frey I went to my PCP/clinic and presented them with the letter and asked for them to put in the referral for the MRI. She told me that it was pretty much impossible to get an MRI approval through HMO and that I would have to try all these medications she prescribed me first and then maybe if they did not work she would send the referral. Fast forward a year after fighting her I was able to get a new PCP but at the same clinic. He was a nightmare. I asked him repeatedly for the MRI and he flat out said that it was just too much paperwork for him and that I had to see other specialist first. By this time my pain and symptoms started to get worse and worse. I began getting these debilitating headaches that would affect my eyesight and I was not able to sleep...averaging only about 4 hours per night. I was getting sicker and sicker and getting no help from my PCP or clinic. I said enough is enough and filed a grievance against the PCP and clinic and was able to get a new PCP/clinic in January of this year (2018). My new PCP was so helpful and thorough and agreed that my symptoms sounded neurological and referred me to a pain specialist. I saw the pain specialist in February of this year and she sent the referral for the MRI. It was approved in one week. I had the MRI done on April 9th. Low and behold I have a large brain tumor which they are calling a "Pituarity Macroandenoma" as well as a Thornwaldt cyst. The tumor is extended into my left sinus and encasing an artery as well. This is the cause for all my headaches/jaw pain/neck pain and just overall illness. I am having surgery on the 24th of this month to have it removed. Dr. Frey had a feeling something was not right over 2 years ago. He was the one that put the questions in my head and pushed me to keep demanding an MRI. In a sense...he SAVED MY LIFE. I will say out of desperation I went ahead with the TMJ treatment from Dr. Frey. I will tell you, it did help with my pain because I was causing harm on the actual joint because of my clenching my teeth at night. My neurologist explained the clenching was because of the anxiety and stress of being in overall pain all the time. While I never did phase two because I still had the pain and headaches by no mean was this Dr. Frey's fault. No matter what he would have done it would have never taken away my pain 100% because the problem was in my brain. I am forever grateful to Dr. Frey and thank him so much for his diligence and concern. I am hoping after recovery to go back to him and have him give me my "Hollywood smile" I've always wanted.
Dr. Frey is a great DDS because he takes a full circle approach to his consideration and overview of other factors outside of just teeth that might lead to jaw problems, including neck alignment, and breathing. He takes his time and walks through images with you on his sophisticated software to really help the patient visualize what is going on, and how the suggested treatment may help. I felt like he is not only the first Dentist I've worked with who thinks big picture, but one of the first medical professionals I've had that doesn't just laser in on just one area of concern. He looks at the whole picture of how the full body fits together, and it is rare to find someone who is so engaged with a major joint such as the jaw. It is shocking and concerning at how many professionals and insurance plans seem to disregard the TMJ when it is in fact a major joint attached the to head! My consultation was impressive to say the least. In addition, his managing team, led by Annie, is stellar. Annie worked through a very frustrating insurance scenario with me for over two months and I was beyond impressed at how she was able to get me reimbursed. She is quite intelligent, and very polished in her sophisticated approach to taking on the financial side of things. Chloe is also extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They personally send lovely texts reminding you of appointments as well. Dr. Frey is however quite expensive, although I think you do get what you pay for. Dr. Frey, do not ever let Annie leave she is an asset to the practice!
I have had tmj issues for past couple years. I did everything from mouth guards and trying different Drs. I had none stop headaches, pressure in my jaw constantly, not being able my mouth straight when I yawned, and my jaw always getting tired when I chewed something for a long period of time. Finally came to the conclusion that I would have to live with the pain for rest of my life. I was watching tv and saw dr. Frey's was on a talk show. I decided to listen in and see what he had to say about tmj. After hearing his theory on how to fix it I decided to give his office a call. I am so happy I did. After minutes of wearing my semi permanent orthotic the pressure that was beneath both of ears had disappeared. I can say I haven't had a headache since. It was a little awkward and getting use to the orthotic after two weeks my bite had found its natural place. To this day I am thankful to have found dr Frey. I still have some clenching in my teeth hear and there but I know it couldn't have been fixed 100%. I am very happy with the results. Through the whole process dr. Frey has been really caring. He actually cares and wants to help his patients and goes out of his way. His staff is just as amazing. Always has a smile so and so friendly.
I went to Dr. Frey's office to fix my TMJ problem because it had popping and grating noises for the past 6 years, and after just 1 week. I noticed SIGNFICANT improvement. This morning, Dr. Frey emailed me about how I was doing, and I responded with this message via e-mail. "Hi Dr. Frey, This orthotic feels amazing! Remember when I was telling you that I had pain when I was biting on my left side? Well, I realized that the pain was due to my old bite, and now i noticed that my bite is changing. And I no longer feel as much pain on my left side. I can now comfortably eat my food, and chew on my left side. I think the first 3 days were really hard because my jaw muscles felt really tense, and it felt really awkward to eat due to the pain of my left side. I'm actually getting really used to it now, and it feels a lot more comfortable now than it did before. The popping noises on my right side has really improved.. Sometimes it doesnt even pop. I can even open my mouth really fast without it popping. With the grating noises on my left side, its literraly gone. I would usually have excrutiating noises that sound like the bone is tearing up some kind of tissue, and it would be really, really loud, and it would make me feel afraid to even open my mouth. Now, I don't even hear anything, and it's really smooth. Since then, I've realized that my headaches, neck pain and back pain have diminished. I think I last time I had a headache was when I had the orthotic on, and I haven't had one since. I also feel a lot more energized in class, and more alert which I think is an amazing feeling. Overall, my jaw can open and close a lot smoother than it did, and it doesn't even get locked as much. I honestly think this was like a 70% improvement than before. Other than that, my mom noticed that I have a straighter posture when walking.. haha. That's pretty much it. I wanted to thank you again sooo much for helping me, I feel like a whole new person! Everyone in my class was also amazed at my smile, and they think it looks really amazing! And, I was telling them it was just the orthotic. Thanks again for everything! I really appreciate it! I honestly can't even thank you enough." Dr. Frey takes care of each of his patients, and his staff are very friendly and approachable. He is definitely a world-class dentist. **Update** I am finishing up my final TMJ bite with Dr. Frey, and after 1 month, i can admit that I am no longer taking any pain meds for headaches and back aches. I no longer hear any cracking/popping noises in my jaw, and I can't even remember the last time I even felt my jaw open this smoothly. I am only 22 years old with Tmj, and I decided to take the porcelain veneer route because I found that it had the optimal effect over braces. Even though my original dentist is going to be retiring soon, I will definitely be making my trip up to beverlyhills just for cleaning and stopping by to say hi. He has definitely changed my life, and if anyone with TMJ problems should see this doctor. he was even able to find the most perfect bite in one try. 🙂
My experience with Dr. Frey and his staff was great!! Dr. Frey restored and revitalize my smile. My TMJ problems are gone. I have no jaw popping, neck pain or head aches. My smile is beautiful. Thank you Dr. Frey, Jasmine and Sarah.
